Outside of Independence Elementary

Independence Elementary School was built in 2014. The school received an addition as part of the 2018 bond referendum. The project was completed in 2019. The building occupies a 10-acre site in southwestern Fargo and has a preferred capacity of 528 and a maximum capacity of 576.

Independence Elementary School is home to the Independence Bulldogs. The school belongs to the Mustang feeder-system; students move on to Liberty Middle School and Sheyenne High School.

The building’s principals have included: Michael Shea (2014 - 2023), Don Lennon (2023 Interim), and Kaye Fischer (2024 - present).
